Ayer a la tarde una de las lancha de World Vision prendió fuego debido a un corto circuito en la batería. Estaban regresando de la Isla de Malaita de vuelta a Guadalcanal (donde esta Honiara) Recién se vieron las llamas cuando estaban altas y lamiendo el tanque de nafta. La pronta respuesta del capitán que rápidamente, pero con dificultad, logro apagar las llamas salvo la vida de 10 personas que viajaban en el bote. Agradecemos a Dios por su protección ya que este tipo de accidentes pasa bastante frecuentemente en esta zona del mundo y en muchos casos tienden a ser fatales por la explosión del tanque de combustible (y demás bidones con nafta) o porque el motor no funciona mas y quedan a la deriva en el medio del mar. Al ser un país muy pobre no hay avión de búsqueda y rescate… Yesterday afternoon one of the World Vision boats which was traveling from Malaita back to Honiara caught fire due to a battery short circuit which generated sparks. The 10 staff traveling on the boat realised that the boat was on fire when the flames were already high and licking at the fuel tanks. The quick action of the boat driver saved the life of 10 people. We thank God for his protection as these sort of accidents are fairly frequent in this country and often have fatal consequences. Despite the fire, the engine miraculously started up again and they were able to crawl back to Honiara, which is another blessing as they would of being drifting in the middle of the ocean if things had turned out differently.
