We have been preparing things for the arrival of Gisela’s parents who will be with us for two weeks. The kids have been drawing “welkam” posters for their grandparents and everyone had a go at decorating the house with palm leaves and flowers, the guards were very helpful.
Finally we left for the airport under a torrential rain complements from the tail of cyclone Atu. We stood at the airport terrace watching the plane come in as buckets of rain water poured on us. The grandparents inevitably got wet as they descended the stairs of the plane to the runway, however from there on there was an airport staff waiting with an open umbrella for the walk to the terminal. After clearing customs they were presented with the typical frangipani necklaces used as welcome gifts in the Solomon Islands that we made that morning.
Once we arrived home we took a few pictures with the decorations (they don’t last too long) It was like a second Christmas for the kids who received a whole lot of gifts and toys, even the older kids got some presents! We are all happy and well and now just waiting for the weather to clear so we can go to the beach.
