Kites/ Barriletes

The kids have been painting with their oil paints in the balcony. Emily has turned out to be quite an artist. Mathias is not so neat and prefers to mix the paints with water and draw with his fingers.
Sunday morning turned out to be unusually windy so we dug out a kite that we brought from Argentina and put on a show for the 30+ neighborhood kids who were fascinated by the “flying machine” Soon other cars that were driving by stopped to watch the show and a couple almost crashed into each other for not looking at the road.
Gisela’s little car was due for a wash. Mathias and I set to work with a bucket (water often runs out in Honiara) and got that done. Mathias was happy to help and even happier to splash water all over the place.
We again went to our little beach with the ship wreck. This time I made a short video which I hope to publish on the blog and will hopefully not be so heavy as to stop the other pictures opening. Emily has started snorkeling by herself. It has opened a new world for her and it was hard to get her out of the water!

For Sunday lunch we went to one of my favourite restaurant/cafes. It’s right next to the ocean and very cozy. A simple building with palm roof and one of the best fish and chip places in town. They also make awesome brunches.
