Game 5. Argentina 0 - Germany 4

El domingo a la mañana no comenzó como soñaba. La madrugada se torno en amarga derrota, lejos de los festejos que tenia planeado de antemano. En el hotel no pasaron el partido por el cable que hay acá (los Fíjanos no son fanáticos del fútbol) así que con una conexión de Internet intermitente y muy lenta escuche la derrota por radio mitre. Se corto 4 veces durante el partido, cada vez que se reconectaba perdíamos por un gol mas.

Pero bueno así es el fútbol, la peor derrota de la selección desde 1974, los alemanes nos llenaron la canasta y los muchachos están de vuelta en Buenos Aires. Hay que darle crédito a Maradona que recibió azotes de siquiera y derecha antes del mundial pero al fin y al cabo nos llevo hasta los cuartos de final… Tevez, un maestro. Y así termina otro mundial, saliendo en cuartos frente a alemania igual que el anterior. Tendremos que esperar hasta Brasil 2014.

Sunday morning turned out to be so much different than I expected. I was not able to see the game on TV as the Fijians are not football fans and the cable supplied by the hotel did not have a single channel that showed the game (talk about 5 start accommodation) I listened to the game on an Argentinean radio with a dodgy Internet connection that keep breaking off. Every time I was able to reconnect with the radio we were a goal down.
But that is the way football is, the worse defeat of the Argentinean team since 1974. The Germans filled our goal and our boys are back in Buenos Aires.

I have to give some credit to Maradona who received a lot of criticism before the WC, but despite all (due to a combination of luck and skill) took us to quarter finals. Tevez by far the best placer is the Argentinean squad, a football master.

And so ends another World Cup another defeat on quarter finals by German hands, just like in the last WC (but that was on penalties). Now Brazil 2014.
