I woke up on Saturday morning with a strong headache, and the kids were also a bit cranky over the last few days so we decided we might as well go for a malaria test which lately manifests itself in the most unusual ways. Of course we were all positive and has to start the treatment. Fortunately this time around it was a lot milder than the previous time.
On Saturday we were invited to our farewell lunch by the expats that work in the Union. It was good to spend sometime with our friends from the different countries represented there. As a farewell gift all public services in Lae were shut off this weekend (for 4 days) so no water or electricity available, and it was very, very hot. On Saturday night we had supper with our Latin American friends and enjoyed the pool and their generator! The 4 days of blackouts and no water were managed well thanks to our frequent visit to their homes. Not the best weekend to pack as you can imagine!!!
